a baseball analogy

It seems to me that Senator Clinton is like a losing away team insisting they pitch the last three outs.

But that aside, I was rather interested to see the exit polls from Montana. Of course, Montana is a state that in the same election:
  • Voted for Bush
  • Voted in a Democratic Governor
  • Reelected their Republican U.S. Representative
  • Legalized medical marijuana
  • Banned gay marriage
I suppose Obama's win in Montana isn't incredibly surprising. 2004 saw Schweitzer elected as voters reacted to a terrible term from the Republican Martz (who didn't run for reelection), and in 2006, Tester won over the scandal-laden Burns in a similar rejection of the status quo. Voting for a candidate of change and against the establishment candidate seems natural. Not to mention the "anyone but Hillary" group. The exit polls seem to reflect this.

I was somewhat more interested in the demographic breakdown. Of course the voters in a Democratic primary aren't going to be representative of the whole state, but it's interesting none the less. I won't bore you with all the details that caught my attention, but I was particularly interested in the religious distribution, with 20% stating they had no religion. I'm curious to see how that number changes in more comprehensive polls.
